Preliminary Task

The preliminary task is a shot reverse shot combination. We have produced a storyboard of what shots we will use, this story board consists of; the character walking towards the door, them opening the door, the character entering which pans to them sitting down, then shot reverse shot, of over the shoulder and a mid shot, whilst sticking to the 180 Degree rule. This is where shots in the same scene are kept at the same side of the characters, but at different angles, to make the shot seem ordinary. A basic script was also written at this time, to loosely stick to when filming.

We attempted to film in one session, so that the costume would be the same and continuation to be exact. The room we already planned to shoot in was unavailable, so we decided to shoot elsewhere, but kept the same plans. The first two shots of outside the room had no problems, but we struggled when filming the conversation. We decided to film both angles at the same time, as the conversation became partly improvised each time, and would not make sense. However, we needed to film this multiple times, as the first time was not shot well (the other camera was visible) or due to 'corpsing.'

The editing was fairly simple, as we already had some experience with editing from GCSE. However, due to the new software, it took us a while to understand how to complete some actions. We had difficulty creating a match on action, when Kieron walked through the door, as the door opened further on different attempts at filming. We did manage to cut the clip accurately, and match on action was still maintained. Another problem was due to the multiple attempts of filming, that we began to edit different attempts together, therefore causing the conversation to make no sense. However this was easily rectified.

This is the final cut of our preliminary task.
